Raila prays for peace as vote tallying gets closer

BY JOAN WANJIKU,NAIROBI,14TH AUG,2022-Azimio la Umoja Presidential candidate Raila Odinga attended church service at St. Francis, ACK Karen Sunday morning.

Raila lauded the country for a peaceful campaign period urging Kenyans to remain united even after the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) declares the President-elect.

“I want to thank God for bringing us this far. We have gone through challenging times, but we thank God that the process has been peaceful. We want to believe that it will remain peaceful,” he said

Raila went ahead to lead the faithful in reciting the prayer of St. Francis of Asisi.

“Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy…”

He was accompanied by his running mate Martha Karua and Azimio la Umoja elected MPs including; Phelix Odiwuor popularly known as Jalang’o, Edwin Sifuna, and Esther Passaris among others.

 

Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU) boss Francis Atwoli was also in attendance.

Deputy President William Ruto also held a church service at his Karen residence.
