BY NEWSDESK,NAIROBI,5TH AUG 2022-Poznan Half Marathon champion Tabitha Wambui has been handed a seven-year ban after testing positive for Norandrosterone and for tampering with anti-doping processes.
Wambui’s urine sample collected during the Copenhagen Half Marathon, where she finished seventh, returned the presence of metabolites of Nandrolone.
The 37-year-old explained the substance had entered her body after she had been injected with Nandrolone to treat ‘a headache and general body weakness’ at the Kiambu Level 5 Hospital.
But no such record was found on the dates referenced in the medical documents she submitted to the Athletics Integrity Unit and that indeed the stamp appearing on the medical document did not belong to the Hospital.
The AIU also announced it had suspended sprinter Eglay Nafuna Nalyanya for the use of Norandrosterone and tampering with another Kenyan Philemon Lokedi suspended after testing positive for exogenous testosterone.
