Nominated MP Sankok announces retirement from politics

BY JOAN WANJIKU,NAIROBI,4TH JULY 2022-Nominated MP David Sankok on Monday announced that he is retiring from politics.

Speaking in an interview at Spice FM, Sankok said he is not seeking any elective seat in the upcoming August polls as he wants to focus on personal businesses.

“The issue of contesting is a personal decision. I decided this time round not to seek any elective position. I need to focus on my businesses,” he said.

He noted that he started fighting for the rights of people living with disabilities at a very early age and never had a chance to grow his businesses.

Sankok represents Persons living With Disabilities (PWDs) in the National Assembly.

He, however, said he will still keep fighting for the rights of the group.

“If you’ve followed debates in Parliament, you’ve probably noticed that I always arrive on time for debates because I don’t want anything to go by without me bringing up the issue of persons with disabilities,” he said.

In October 2019, Sankok announced that he will retire from active politics after his five-year term ends in 2022.
