439 test positive for COVID19 in the last 24 hours

BY JOAN WANJIKU,NAIROBI,28TH JUNE,2022-439 people have tested positive for Covid-19, from a sample size of 3, 937 tested in the last 24 hours as Kenya continues to battle with a sixth wave of the virus.

The latest figures present a positivity rate of 11.2pc and the total confirmed cases are now 332,898 from 3,750,796 cumulative tests so far conducted.

Nairobi leads with 198 cases, Kitui 42, Nakuru 27, Kiambu 26, Siaya 26, Murang’a 15, and Garissa 14, Bomet, Nyeri, Tana River 9 cases each, Laikipia and Makueni 7 cases each, Kilifi and Nyamira 6 cases each, Nyandarua, Narok, and Uasin Gishu 5 cases each, Samburu 4, Busia and Mombasa 3cases each, Baringo, Kisumu, Machakos, West Pokot 2 cases each, while Embu, Homa Bay, Kajiado, Kirinyaga and Kwale had a case each.

No death was reported even as 398 patients have recovered from the disease, 384, from the Home Based and Isolation Care Program and 14 from various health facilities countrywide.

“There are 122 patients currently admitted in our health facilities, while 3,669 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program. 5 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), of whom 4 are on ventilator support while 1 is on supplemental oxygen. Another 16 are in the General Wards and are all on supplemental oxygen. No patient is in the High Dependency Unit (HDU),” Health CS mutahi Kagwe said

Vaccination Campaign

As of June 27th 2022, a total of 18,759,670 vaccines have been administered across the country. Of these, 16,733,408 are doses administered to the adult population.

Another 1,526,764 are doses administered to those between 15 to 17 years, 42,113 are below 15 years but above 12 years while 457,385 are booster doses.

The total number of vaccines administered in the last 24 hours is 18,605 while the total number of people fully vaccinated in the last 24 hours is 7,610
