Azimio announces strategy towards wining August poll

BY JOAN WANJIKU,NAIROBI,24TH JUNE,2022-Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition has bolstered its campaign strategy to ensure a strong election victory, days after the electoral agency gazetted the final voters’ register.

The Azimio Council that met for the second time Friday announced a synergized campaign dubbed 15 million strong that would guarantee Presidential candidate Raila Odinga a round one win to form the next government.

Kenya’s four presidential candidates will be fighting for 22,120,458 voters who qualify to participate in the August 9 General Election.

Addressing journalists after the meeting that was convened by the council chair President Uhuru Kenyatta, Suna East Member of Parliament Junet Mohammed who is the Secretary-General of the National Executive Council of the coalition said the party was satisfied with its plans on course to secure the most votes.

Part of the strategic plan, contained in the resolutions includes synergizing the strength brought by each party to the coalition by rationalizing and harmonizing candidates in all elective positions which should be implemented by the affiliated parties.

The meeting chaired by Raila Odinga explored all options to win majority seats in Parliament and the 47 county assemblies.

The Council has consequently mandated NEC and the Presidential campaign secretariat to interrogate the final voters register gazetted by IEBC and report its observations next week Tuesday.

The Council members include Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Narc-Kenya leader Martha Karua, Governor Ali Hassan Joho, KANU chairman Gideon Moi, NARC leader Charity Ngilu, DAP-K party leader Wafula Wamunyinyi, Muranga Woman Representative Sabina Chege, Abdi Noor Omar Farah and Taveta MP Naomi Shaban.

The meeting took place in the absence of President Kenyatta who was in Rwanda for the  Commonwealth Heads of Government summit.
