Here is a list of deliverables CUE wants As Proof Sakaja Attended Team University

BY NAMULONGO PETER,NAIROBI,17TH JUNE,2022-The Commission for University Education (CUE) is now seeking at least 10 documents from Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja as confirmation that he attended Team University before clearing him to vie in the upcoming August elections.

Sakaja, who is seeking to vie for the Nairobi Governor seat, is embroiled in a political quagmire, after CUE revoked recognition of his university degree, a move that left his governorship bid hanging by a thread.

In a press briefing on Friday, CUE Chairperson Chacha Nyaigotti said CUE had opened a probe into the authenticity of Sakaja’s degree following concerns raised by members of the public.

“…On diverse dates, the commission received complaints from members of the public and civil society casting doubt on the authenticity of the degree certificate submitted to CUE by Hon. Sakaja. The gravity of the matter raised made the commission revoke its decision to recognize the degree qualification,” said Prof. Nyaigotti.

The commission says investigations into the matter are ongoing and that it has written to Sakaja to provide a set of documents to prove that he graduated from Team University.

 The required documents include:

  1. His application for the course
  2. Letter of admission from the University
  3. Evidence of registration including Student ID
  4. Credit Accumulation and Transfer System (ATS)
  5. Course description for the Bachelor of Science in Management (External)
  6. Course Units taken
  7. Transcripts
  8. Examinations schedules
  9. Graduation Booklet that has his name on it
  10. Receipts for:
  11. Application fee
  12. Tuition fees
  13. Graduation and convocation
  14. Names of lecturers that taught him some of the courses
  15. Any communication with the university staff (academic and administrative) regarding his course in the university
  16. Graduation Photo while wearing the gown,
  17. Evidence of the requisite credit hours covered

The commission has also invited Sakaja to attend a meeting on Monday, June 20 to provide further information that can aid in the investigations.

Prof. Chacha further stated that the commission has written to Team University seeking further information regarding the matter.

Meanwhile, Prof. Chacha has warned universities against involvement in the issuance of fake degrees, warning that any institution found culpable will be blacklisted.

“The problem of fraudulent degree certificates has become endemic and bears a huge reputational risk to the University academic programmes. We shall work tirelessly to guard against this threat to our education system and as a Commission we will blacklist any university which colludes on the issuance of fraudulent degrees,” said Prof. Chacha.
