Kenya records 213 Covid-19 cases, positivity rate stands at 9.9pc

BY JOAN WANJIKU,NAIROBI,13TH JUNE,2022-Kenya recorded 213 Covid-19 cases on Monday from a sample size of 2,147 tested in the last 24 hours.

According to data from the Ministry of Health, the positivity rate now stands at 9.9pc. Out of the new cases, 142 are Kenyans while 71 are foreigners.

The total confirmed cases are now 327,145 while the cumulative tests so far conducted are 3,703,840.

In terms of County distribution; Nairobi leads with 139, Kitui 44, Kilifi 13, Nyeri 8, Mombasa 4, Kiambu 3, Embu and Siaya 1 case each.

No death was reported even as 150 patients recovered from the disease, 135 from the Home Based Care and Isolation program and 15 from various health facilities countrywide.

This pushes the total recoveries to 319,669 of whom 266,623 are from the Home-Based Care and Isolation program, while 53,046 are from various health facilities countrywide.

“There are 46 patients currently admitted in our health facilities, while 1,779 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program. 5 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and are on supplemental oxygen, while 3 are in General Wards and are on supplemental oxygen. No patient is in the High Dependency Unit (HDU),” Health CS Mutahi Kagwe indicated


As of June 12th 2022, a total of 18,442,246 vaccines have been administered across the country. Of these, 16,576,598 are doses administered to the adult population.

Another 1,450,149 are doses administered to those between 15 to 17 years, 37,541 are below 15 years but above 12 years while 377,958 are booster doses.

The total number of vaccines administered in the last 24 hours is 1,858 while the total number of people fully vaccinated in the last 24 hours is 831.

The proportion of adults fully vaccinated stands at 31.3pc. The Government is working towards vaccinating a targeted population of 27,246,033.
