BY NEWSDESK,NAIROBI,6TH JUNE,2022-Presidential aspirant Walter Mong’are’s clearance to vie for the presidency has been revoked.
The aspirant is now locked out of the August 9, presidential race.
This comes a week after he was cleared to vie on Monday, May 30.
Independent Electoral of Boundaries Commission chairman Wafula Chebukati says upon verification of his documents, it became apparent that he was not qualified.
The information, he stated, was not available to the returning officer on the day he was cleared.
“Upon emergence of some new information and upon verification, it became clear he was lacked academic qualifications and so we had to revoke his clearance certificate,” he stated.
He further stated that upon being summoned he refused to appear before the commission.
Chebukati reminded successful candidates to abide by electoral code of conduct during the campaign period.
