BY JOAN WANJIKU,NAIROBI,4TH JUNE,2022-Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe has announced that 122 people have tested positive for Covid-19 from a sample size of 2,391 tested in the last 24 hours. The positivity rate is now at 5.1pc.
In a statement Saturday, from the cases 106 are Kenyans while 16 are foreigners. 66 are females and 56 males. The youngest is a 4-year-old while the oldest is 80years old.
Total confirmed positive cases are now 325,442 and cumulative tests so far conducted are 3,679,918.
In terms of County distribution Kagwe said Nairobi has 97 cases, Kiambu 5, Kitui 5, Nakuru 5, Kilifi 2, Siaya 2, Uasin Gishu 2, Kisumu, Migori, Murang’a and Nyandarua1 case each.
Distribution of positive cases by age is as follows; 0-9 years (5), 10-19 years (7), 20-29 years (22), 30-39 (38), 40-49(23)50-59(20), 60 years and above (7).
Kagwe said 57 patients have recovered from the disease, all of them from the Home Based and Isolation Care Program. This pushes the total recoveries to 318,755 of whom 265,724 are from the Home-Based Care and Isolation program, while 53,031 are from various health facilities countrywide.
“Fortunately, no patient has succumbed to the disease therefore the cumulative fatalities remain 5,651,” said the CS.
Cumulative deaths by age; 0-9 years (62), 10-19 years (43), 20-29 (149), 30-39 years (410), 40-49 years (647), 50-59 years (1,029), 60 years and above (3,311).
The CS said there are 6 patients currently admitted in our health facilities, while 1,030 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.
“No patient is in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), none is on supplemental oxygen and no patient is in the High Dependency Unit (HDU),” he added.
“As of June 3rd 2022, a total of 18,265,077 vaccines have been administered across the country. Of these, 16,493,038 are doses administered to the adult population (18 years and above). Another 1,385,916 are doses administered to those between 15 to 17 years, 34,939 are below 15 years but above 12 years while 351,184 are booster doses. The total number of vaccines administered in the last 24 hours is 14,938 while the total number of people fully vaccinated in the last 24 hours is 5,718. Proportion of adults fully vaccinated was 31.1%. The Government is working towards vaccinating a targeted population of 27,246,033,” said Kagwe.
