BY JOAN WANJIKU,NAIROBI,27TH MAY,2022-Deputy President William Ruto claims that Kenya Kwanza alliance is the only affiliation that has put its memorandum of understanding openly.
Ruto says that all party principals in the alliance are conversant with the written MOU which touches on issues affecting Kenyans.
Ruto was speaking Friday during a public economic forum at Karisa Maitha grounds in Kilifi County, where he engaged a section of the resident who raised a number of issues affecting them that ought to be addressed.
In his response, Ruto emphasized the need to incorporate fishing as a course in the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs if elected the next Kenya president in the forthcoming general elections.
Ruto said that most of the fishermen just like other economic sectors need training and modern equipment in order to enhance fishing productivity in the country.
He further called on fishermen to form Saccos to enable them to access loans to purchase modern fishing gears.
He pledged to set aside Ksh100 million annually to be advanced interest-free to fishing saccos to support fishmongers with free loans.
The Deputy President later addressed a rally public at Witu in Lamu county where he drummed up his bottom-up economical model saying it was the only way to empower people at grassroots. He called on the area electorates to elect leaders based on their past development records.
Elsewhere, Azimio One Kenya Presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga has pledged to solve the title deeds puzzle in Trans Nzoia County if he becomes the next president.
Raila while campaigning in Trans Nzoia County said his government will substantially reduce the cost of farm inputs with a view to lowering the cost of living in the country.
He at the same said he will roll out properly structured modern housing schemes on large pieces of land across the country, where apart from benefiting from social amenities that will be put up by the government, residents in the said schemes will be given land according to their ability to till it for commercial agriculture.
He said the residents will be allowed to work on the said farms and later earn good returns depending on the quantity of their produce, and also boost food security in the country.
Odinga said the plan to set up a special kitty to buy land and resettle Kenyans proposed by his opponents is only aimed for selfish gains, noting it had previously proved to be unsuccessful.
Raila announced a raft of measures to improve the livelihoods of Trans Nzoia residents among them bringing health care closer to the people, and protection of the Cherangany and Mount Elgon water towers to ensure residents access clean water.
