BY KORIR JUMA,NAIROBI,10TH MAY 2022-Azimio La Umoja One Kenya coalition presidential candidate Raila Odinga has called for adoption of Recognition of Prior Learning Policy in Kenya (RPL) in pursue to address unemployment rate in the country and boosting the Kenyan economy.
In a press briefing on Tuesday morning at Nairobi, Odinga said the policy will help recognize over 16.4 million artisans in the juakali sector whose contribution to Kenyan GDP stands at 34%.
Odinga added that RPL will impact positively on the lives of workers and learners of all ages, unemployed people, refugees, migrants and other marginalised groups including millions of Jua Kali Artisans, as important beneficiaries of RPL services.
He said time has come for the nation to formalize the juakali sector through partneships and that his administration once elected to power will ensure artisans have access to affordable credits and guarantee to their products.
