Members of the public and the complainant apprehended the suspect as he attempted to dump the three “recruits” in Karatina town.
Confirming the incident, Mathira east police chief Benjamin Kipkorir said the suspect and others met the victims’ parents near the Hilton Hotel, where they paid Ksh.600,000 each and were given false admission letters to the Kiganjo police college.
The suspect was then assigned by his accomplices to drive them to the college, but when they arrived in Karatina town, he suggested that they have lunch first.
“As they were having lunch, the suspect told the youngsters that their vehicle had been stolen and attempted to escape. He was nabbed by the youngsters from Nandi county with the help of members of the public and taken to Karatina police station, ” said Kipkorir.
The police chief stated that they have tracked the vehicle, which has already been impounded, as they search for other suspects in the city.
