BY  JOAN WANJIKU,NAIROBI,1ST APRIL,2022- Jackson Kibor, a farmer and controversial politician, was  laid to rest on Friday at his home in Kabenes, Uasin Gishu.

His body was removed from Eldoret morgue on Thursday ahead of the burial.

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga is among those who  attended  the burial of the businessman.

Kibor was a staunch supporter of Raila, whom he said he had worked hard and should be given a chance to lead, even as a ceremonial president.

So who is Jackson Kibor?

Born at Lelmokwo in Nandi county to very poor parents, Kibor was orphaned after his parents died when he was barely age five.

He dropped out of school in 1957 in Standard Five because he could not pay Sh1.50 per year to continue with his studies. He was a herds boy, farmhand and driver.

In 1981, Kibor was elected chairman of the Wareng county council covering current Uasin Gishu county. During his three-year tenure, he became one of the richest men in the country.

Kibor was a staunch AIC follower and had given land to more than eight churches and a mosque. He bought more than 45 acres to construct Kipkabus Secondary School.

Kibor made headlines with his long, salacious and successful divorces against his second and third wives.

Jackson Kiprotich Kibor, a farmer and controversial politician from Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County died last month while receiving treatment at St Luke’s hospital in Eldoret.
