The Deputy President, however, said the president’s decision does not make him his competitor.
Dr Ruto cautioned opposition leader Raila Odinga against using the President’s decision to turn the August polls into a contest between him and his boss, President Kenyatta.
He said: “I respect the President’s decision to support Mr. Odinga, it is his democratic right. However, Mr. Odinga should know the competition is not between me and President Kenyatta. The competition is between me and Mr. Odinga.”

Dr. Ruto said Kenyans have the capacity to distinguish President Kenyatta from Mr. Odinga saying the only thing that will sell Mr. Odinga was an alternative agenda.

Dr Ruto exuded confidence that Kenyans will vote for Kenya Kwanza’s agenda that he described as progressive and people-centered.
He said: “It is the people who will decide who the next leader of our country will be, and therefore we will submit ourselves to the people and will respect their decision.”

The Ford Kenya leader urged Kenyans to rally behind the Kenya Kwanza Alliance saying it is the only political formation with a people-centered agenda.
He said: “If you want the challenges facing Kenyans to be addressed, do not follow Mr. Odinga because he does not know what this country needs.”
Mr. Mbai asked Kenyans to ignore propaganda spread by Azimio leaders that Dr. Ruto’s victory will be stolen by the deep state.
He said: “They are only selling fear to our supporters. The era of election rigging ended a long time ago.”
Mr Musyoka said Kenyans are firmly behind Dr. Ruto who has a clear agenda for the country, unlike his competitor, Mr. Odinga.
He said: “Kenyans are no longer attracted to Mr. Odinga’s politics of sloganeering and empty talk; they have embraced the politics of development practiced by Dr. Ruto.”
