Kenya records 60 new Covid cases, four deaths

BY JOAN WANJIKU,NAIROBI,10TH FEB,2022-Kenya on Thursday recorded 60 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the country’s case load to 322,334, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has said.

The CS in a press briefing confirmed that this was from a sample size of 6,432 recording a positivity rate of 0.9 per cent.

The cumulative tests stand at 3,278,718.

The country’s fatalities have risen to 5,626 after another four patients succumbed to the disease on diverse dates.

Kagwe said that there are 215 patients currently admitted in various hospitals across the country. Another, 1,710 patients are on the home-based care programme.

A total of nine patients are in ICU, out of which eight are on ventilatory support.

Also, 59 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen, out of which 55 are in general wards and four in the HDU.

Meanwhile, 3,823 patients have recovered from the disease out of which 3,775 were from the Homebased care program while 48 were discharged from various health facilities.

Kenya’s recoveries now stand at 300,305.


As of February 9, a total of 14,465,822 vaccines have been administered across the country; 7,168,831 are partially vaccinated & 6,644,737 fully vaccinated. Another 443,436 are doses administered to those between 15 to 17 years while 208,818 are booster doses.

The total number of vaccines administered in the last 24 hours is 230,249 & the total number of people fully vaccinated is 99,528.

The uptake of the second dose among those who received their first dose was at 63.3%.

Proportion of adults fully vaccinated was 24.4%.
