Kenya records 63 new Covid cases, 129 recoveries

BY JOAN WANJIKU,NAIROBI,8TH FEB,2022-Kenya on Tuesday recorded 63 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the country’s caseload to 322,214, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has said.

The CS in a press briefing confirmed that this was from a sample size of 4,847 recordings representing a positivity rate of 1.3 per cent.

The cumulative tests stand at 3,266,160.

The country’s fatalities remain 5,621 as no death was recorded in the last 24 hours.

Kagwe said that there are 232 patients currently admitted to various hospitals across the country.

Another, 3,525 patients are on the home-based care programme.

A total of seven patients are in ICU, out of which six are on ventilatory support.

Also, 57 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen, out of which 55 are in general wards and two in the HDU.

Meanwhile, 129 patients have recovered from the disease out of which 116 were from the Homebased care program while 13 were discharged from various health facilities.

Kenya’s recoveries now stand at 296,237.


A total of 13,969,965 vaccines have been administered across the country.

Of these, 7,021,804 are partially vaccinated while those fully vaccinated are 6,428,495. 321,600 are doses administered to those between 15 to 17 years while 198,066 are booster doses.
