By CORRESPONDENT,NAIROBI,11TH JAN,2022- Speaker of the National Assembly Justin Muturi has called on the youth to take advantage of the extended voter registration drive so that they can take exercise their civic right to vote.
Muturi, who has declared his intention to vie for the presidency in August, this year, commended the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) for reopening voter registration, starting January 17, and pleaded with the youth not to abandon
Muturi said: “If you do not register, you cannot cast your vote, and then you end up complaining that Kenyans elect bad leaders. Yet, when you do not vote, you are responsible of putting bad leaders in office.”
Muturi was speaking at a Nairobi Hotel after he attended a Democratic Party National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting that was chaired by party leader Joseph Munyao and attended by national Chairman Esau Kioni among others.
It was the first time in over one month that Muturi made a public appearance, after his communications team announced he had suffered a fractured right elbow following a mishap in his Parliament office.
