BY JOAN WANJIKU,NAIROBI,30TH DEC,2021-Kenya on Thursday recorded 3,286 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the country’s case load to 292,237, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has said.
The CS in a press briefing confirmed that this was from a sample size of 11,703 recording a positivity rate of 28.1 per cent.
The cumulative tests stand at 3,020,888.
The country’s fatalities have risen to 5,376 after another four patients succumbed to the disease, one in the last 24 hours while three are late deaths reported after conducting facility record audits in the month of December.
Kagwe said that there are 935 patients currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 22,771 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.
Some 41 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 20 of them on ventilatory support while 21 are on supplemental oxygen.
Another 207 patients are on supplemental oxygen and 182 of them are in the general wards. 25 patients are in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
Meanwhile, 260 patients have recovered from the disease, 152 from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program while 108 are from various health facilities countrywide.
Total recoveries now stand at 251,223 of whom 202,227 are from the Home-Based Care and Isolation program, while 48,996 are from various health facilities countrywide.
As of December 29, a total of 9,849,459 vaccines have so far been administered across the country. Of these, 5,762,977are partially vaccinated while those fully vaccinated are 4,086,482.
The uptake of the second dose among those who received their first dose was at 55.8 per cent.
Proportion of adults fully vaccinated was 15.0 per cent.
The Government is working towards vaccinating a targeted population of 27,246,033.
