Election 2022:Chebukati says election preparedness demands for concerted efforts

BY KORIR JUMA,NAIROBI,13TH DEC,2021-The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is Monday holding a consultative forum with the Political Parties Liaison Committee on 2022 General Election preparedness, nomination rules and proposed electoral legal reforms.

IEBC chariman Wafula Chebukati says preparedness demands for concerted efforts by all Political Parties, Government Institutions, the civil society and citizens to play their roles.

He said IEBC remains steadfast in the journey towards the 2022 general election to deliver free, fair and credible polls.

A total of 82 Political Parties resubmitted revised nomination rules and IEBC has completed a second review of their nomination rules.

Only 72 were found to be compliant & will be issued with Compliance Certificates as guided by provisions of Section 27 of the Elections Act.

The Commission says it will contact the 10 Political Parties that did not comply with the nomination rules to advise on the way forward.
