BY NAMULONGO PETER,NAIROBI,12TH DEC,2021-201people have tested positive for the disease, from a sample size of 4,011tested in the last 24 hours bringing total confirmed positive cases to 256,335.
The positivity rate is now at 5.0% with cumulative tests so far conducted standing at 2,889,613.
Out of the new cases 157 are Kenyans while 44 are foreigners with 118 being males and 83 are females.
The youngest is an eight–month-old child while the oldest is 78 years.
According to a statement by Ministry of Health, two patients have succumbed to the disease, all of them being late deaths reported after conducting facility record audit in the month of December 2021.
This now pushes the cumulative fatalities to 5,348.
Four patients have recovered from the disease all of them from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.
Total recoveries now stand at 248,515 of whom 200,536 are from the Home-Based Care and Isolation program, while 47,979 are from various health facilities countrywide.
A total of 188 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 834 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.
2 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and all of them are on ventilatory support.
A total of 49 patients are on supplemental oxygen with 48 of them being in the general wards while one patient is in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
As of December 11th 2021, a total of 8,169,739 vaccines had so far been administered across the country. Of these, 4,918,051 were partially vaccinated while those fully vaccinated were 3,251,688.
The uptake of the second dose among those who received their first dose was at 57.3%. Proportion of adults fully vaccinated was 11.9%.
The Government is working towards vaccinating a targeted population of 27,246,033.
