109 new cases recorded as 10 recover from Covid

BY JOAN WANJIKU,NAIROBI,30TH NOV 2021-From a sample size of 4,994 tested in the last 24 hours, Kenya on Tuesday recorded 109 new Covid-19 cases, with the positivity rate now at 2.2 per cent.

In a statement, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said that of the new cases, 91 are Kenyans while 18 are foreigners.

Some 86 are males and 23 are females, with the youngest being a five-year-old child and the oldest is 91 years.

This brings the total confirmed cases to 255,088 and cumulative tests so far conducted are 2,835,065.

The CS added that 10 patients have recovered from the disease, with five from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program and five from health facilities countrywide.

The total recoveries now stand at 248,318 of whom 200,400 are from the Home-Based Care and Isolation program, while 47,918 are from various health facilities countrywide.

One patient has succumbed to the disease, the case being a late death reported after conducting facility audit records, pushing the cumulative fatalities to 5,335.

A total of 169 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 818 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.

Seven patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), six of whom are on ventilatory support and one on supplemental oxygen.

No patient is under observation.

Another 50 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with all of them being in the general wards. No patient is in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).

Kagwe also announced that as of November 29, a total of 7,063,927 vaccines had so far been administered across the country.

Of these, 4,354,454were partially vaccinated while those fully vaccinated were 2,709,473.

The uptake of the second dose among those who received their first dose was at 57.0 per cent.

Proportion of adults fully vaccinated was 9.9 per cent.
