BY KORIR JUMA,NAIROBI,25TH NOV,2021-The government now says it will not pursue charges against Football Kenya Federation (FKF) president Nick Mwendwa, who it had accused of misappropriating funds allocated to the federation.
The court had granted the prosecution seven days to charge Mwendwa, who was kicked out of office two weeks ago when the Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed disbanded the FKF.
The dissolution of the federation followed an independent audit into FKF’s affairs, which CS Amina said it concluded that the FKF was unable to account for all the monies allocated to it by the government.
She also requested the removal of the FKF’s officials in order for further investigations to be carried out, with a special audit of the books of accounts of FKF also being requested.
The arrest of Mwendwa followed on November 12 and he was detained for two days before being released on a Sh4million cash bail.
In declining to bring criminal charges against Mwendwa, the state said it wishes to close the file pending further investigations
