BY JOAN WANJIKU,NAIROBI,12TH NOV,2021-The Ministry of Health has disclosed that another 64 people have tested positive for covid-19, from a sample size of 4,790 tested in the last 24 hours. This leaves the covid positivity rate in the county at 1.3%.
From the cases, the ministry says 57 are Kenyans, while seven are foreigners. 38 males and 26 are females. Total confirmed positive cases are now 254,215 and cumulative tests so far conducted are 2,761,828.
Over the same period, one patient succumbed to the disease. This now pushes the cumulative fatalities to 5,316.
According to Health CS Mutahi Kagwe, a total of 396 patients are currently admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 1,044 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.
“31 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 15 of whom are on ventilatory support and 16 on supplemental oxygen. No patient is under observation.” Kagwe indicated
He added that “another 108 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 107 of them are in the general wards. One patient is in the High Dependency Unit (HDU)”
At the same time, the ministry says 47 patients have recovered from the disease with 30 from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program while 17 are from health facilities countrywide.
“Total recoveries now stand at 247,574 of whom 200,001 are from the Home-Based Care and Isolation program, while 47,573 are from various health facilities countrywide.” CS Kagwe said in a statement.
