BY JOAN WANJIKU,NAIROBI,9TH NOV,2021-The Ministry of Health has announced 26 new cases of Covid-19 from 1,346 samples tested in the last 24 hours.
The cases bring the positivity rate to 1.9 per cent and the cumulative infections to 253,879.
The youngest of the news cases is a two-year-old child while the oldest is 85 years old.
Health CS Mutahi Kagwe announced 88 recoveries, 83 of them from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program while five are from various health facilities countrywide.
Total recoveries now stand at 247,458.
Cumulative Covid-19 related deaths hit 5,314 following an additional two late death reports from facility audits in October and November 2021.
A total of 403 patients are currently admitted in various hospitals countrywide, while 1,077 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.
Some 30 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 15 of whom are on ventilatory support and 15 on supplemental oxygen.
No patient is under observation.
Another 113 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen and all of them are in the general wards.
No patient is in the High Dependency Unit.
Nairobi recorded 13 cases while, Baringo, Meru, Kericho and Kisii recorded two cases each, and Elgeyo Marakwet, Kajiado, Kakamega, Lamu and Nakuru each recorded a case.
