BY JOAN WANJIKU,NAIROBI,5TH NOV,2021-Kenya on Friday recorded 76 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the country’s case load to 253,737, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has said.
The CS in a press briefing confirmed that this was from a sample size of 6,267, recording a positivity rate of 1.2 per cent.
The cumulative tests stand at 2,730,639.
The country’s fatalities remain 5,296 as no death was reported in the last 24 hours.
Kagwe said that there are 422 patients currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 1,143 are under the home-based isolation and care programme.
Thirty-three patients are in the Intensive Care Unit, 19 of whom are on ventilatory support and 14 on supplemental oxygen.
Another 113 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 111 of them in the general wards. Two patients are in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
Meanwhile, 46 patients have recovered from the disease with 32 from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program while 14 are from various health facilities countrywide.
Total recoveries now stand at 247,202 of whom 199,683 are from the Home-Based Care and Isolation program, while 47,519 are from various health facilities countrywide.
As of November 4, a total of 5,546,979 vaccines had so far been administered across the country. Of these, 3,764,767 were partially vaccinated while those fully vaccinated were 1,782,212.
The uptake of the second dose among those who received the first dose was at 44.5 per cent. Proportion of adults fully vaccinated was 6.5 per cent.
The government is working towards vaccinating a targeted population of 27,246,033.
