BY JOAN WANJIKU,NAIROBI,2ND NOV,2021-Kenya on Tuesday recorded 70 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the country’s case load to 253,409, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has said.
The CS in a statement confirmed that this was from a sample size of 5,755, recording a positivity rate of 1.2 per cent.
The cumulative tests stand at 2,714,255.
The country’s fatalities have risen to 5,282 after another patient succumbed to the disease.
Kagwe said that there are 444 patients currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 1,175 are under the home-based isolation and care program.
Twenty-six patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 12 of whom are on ventilatory support and 14 on supplemental oxygen. No patient is under observation.
Another 130 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with129 of them in the general wards. One patient is in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
Meanwhile, 36 patients have recovered from the disease with 29 from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program while 7 are from various health facilities countrywide.
Total recoveries now stand at 246,957 of whom 199,487 are from the Home-Based Care and Isolation program, while 47,470 are from various health facilities countrywide.
As of November 1, a total of 5,377,727 vaccines had so far been administered across the country. Of these, 3,705,253 were partially vaccinated while those fully vaccinated were 1,672,474.
The uptake of the second dose among those who received their first dose was at 42.6 per cent. Proportion of adults fully vaccinated was 6.1 per cent.
The government is working towards vaccinating a targeted population of 27,246,033.
