BY JOAN WANJIKU,NAIROBI,21ST OCT,2021-The Ministry of Health has announced 67 new cases of Covid-19, from 2,988 samples tested in the last 24 hours.
This brings total confirmed positive cases to 252,375 and the positivity rate is to 2.2 per cent.
Total recoveries rose to 245,882 after 96 patients recovered from the disease; 87 from the Home-Based Isolation and Care programme while 9 are from various health facilities countrywide.
Some five late deaths reported after the ministry conducted facility record audits in the months of August and October 2021, pushing the cumulative deaths to 5,243.
A total of 522 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 1,442 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care programme.
Another 30 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit, 17 of whom are on ventilatory support and 13 on supplemental oxygen.
No patient is under observation.
An additional 166 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 165 being in the general wards.
One patient is in the High Dependency Units (HDU).
In terms of distribution; Nakuru recorded 14cases, Meru and Bomet 7 each, Kakamega and Nairobi 6 each, and Makueni and Siaya 4 cases each.
Baringo, Kwale, Trans Nzoia and Uasin Gishu 2 cases each, while Vihiga, West Pokot, Garissa, Isiolo, Kajiado, Kiambu, Machakos, Migori, Murang’a, Kisii and Kitui recorded a case each.
As of October 20th 2021, a total of 4,733,770 vaccines had so far been administered across the country.
Of these, 3,416,746 are partially vaccinated while 1,317,024 are fully vaccinated.
