KeNHA announces more measures to ease traffic along Expressway course

BY JOAN WANJIKU,NAIROBI,11TH OCT,2021-The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced further measures to ease traffic congestion along the Nairobi Expressway course.

In a public notice issued on Monday, the highways regulator says it has opened up sections of the Expressway to traffic to pave way for restoration works along the existing highway.

This to include the section along Imara Daima to Isuzu East Africa (General Motors/GM) and the section along Airtel headquarters.

KeNHA further says it has opened several diversions along the Mlolongo-JKIA stretch to allow ease of access to businesses and residential areas.

Further, KeNHA says it has opened the new built road from Westlands to the James Gichuru junction to facilitate works on the other half of the road which is set to be completed at the end of October.

At the same-time, the new pedestrian bridge at GM has been opened for public use as the old bridge is deconstructed.

KeNHA has however cautioned of possible congestion along the GM bridge where works to bring down the old bridge continues.

Closed sections along the Westlands-James Gichuru course are expected to be opened by October 30 while the Haile Sellasie-UON Roundabout section will open by Friday this week.

The project’s completion progress now stands at 64.8 per cent while that of the elevated section stands at 80.5 per cent.
