Former Boxer Conjestina Achieng Torches Own House in Siaya

BY JOAN WANJIKU,NAIROBI,27TH AUG 2021-Conjestina, who has been struggling with mental issues for years, torched her house citing frustration, according to Citizen.

Since coming to the fore in 2018, the plight of one of Kenya’s most talented boxers has been much publicized, with some notable names in the country offering to help the troubled legend. More recently, radio and Kenyan sports personality Carol Radull highlighted the boxer’s troubles as she disclosed Conjestina was barely hanging on after “fake promises from Heroes Council”.

Former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko initially offered to rehabilitate Conjestina in 2018, and after months of treatment, Congestina evidenced glimpses of progress as she worked her way to full recovery.

Her progress was so remarkable that in March 2019 she made a rare appearance during Fatuma Zarika’s triumph over Zambian opponent Catherine Phiri. However, all that was short-lived as Conjestina regressed a year later, with Radull making her desolate state known to the public after paying the boxer a visit.
