Weatherman says heavy rainfall to be experienced across Kenya

BY KORIR JUMA,NAIROBI,16TH AUG 2021-Rainfall is expected in many parts of the country, according to the seven-day weather forecast from the Kenya Meteorological Department.

Heavy rainfall above 100 mm is expected over some parts of West Pokot, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Trans-Nzoia, Nakuru, Kericho, Bungoma, Nandi, Vihiga, Baringo, Nyandarua, and Nyeri counties.

Also, light rainfall of 1-10 mm is expected over some parts of coastal counties, including Taita Taveta, Machakos, Kajiado, Kitui, Garissa, and Marsabit counties.

Light rainfall 10-50 mm is also expected over some parts of Turkana, Samburu, Laikipia, Meru, Tharaka-Nithi, Embu, Machakos, Kirinyaga, Nairobi, Murang’a, Kiambu, Narok, Migori, Siaya, Kisumu, Busia, Migori, Homa Bay, Bomet Kajiado, Makueni, and Taita Taveta counties.

Mandera, Marsabit, Isiolo, Garissa, Kitui are expected to remain relatively dry.

Isolated storms are likely to occur over some parts of these areas.

“Moderate rainfall between 50-100 mm is expected over most parts of Nyamira, Kisii, Kericho, Kakamega, Bungoma, Meru, Nyeri, Nyandarua, Samburu, Baringo, Turkana & West Pokot Counties,” the weatherman said.

Last week, Met said heavy rainfall of above 100 mm is expected over some parts of Kenya.

It said that rainfall is expected over the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin.

The rains are also expected in South and Central Rift Valley, the Northwest, and the Highlands East of the Rift Valley.
