Meteorological department Nairobi county will experience cold weather, rainfall

BY NAMULONGO PETER,NAIROBI,12TH AUG,2021-The Kenya Meteorological Department has warned of cold across several sub counties in Nairobi. In its 24-hour weather forecast, Met said it will be cloudy, cold and rainy today in the county. Currently, the temperatures are 14 degrees in Nairobi.

The sub counties of Roysambu, Ruaraka, Embakasi South, Embakasi West, Embakasi Central and Kamukunji are listed as the areas that will be affected the most.

The department said rainfall is expected over several parts of the country for the next 24 hours.

They include; Narok, Nyamira, Nakuru, Kericho, Nandi, Homabay, Nyeri, Kakamega, Vihiga, Busia, Bungoma, Kisumu, Kisii, Siaya, Bomet, Elgeyo Marakwet, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Trans-Nzoia, Muranga, Kirinyaga, Embu, Meru and Kiambu counties.

Others are; Tharaka Nithi, Laikipia, Nyandarua, Nairobi counties and some coastal parts of Kenya.

At the beginning of the week, Met said heavy Rainfall of above 100 mm is expected over some parts of Kenya.

The Kenya Meteorological Department said rainfall is expected over the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin.

The rains are also expected at the South and Central Rift Valley, the Northwest and the Highlands East of the Rift Valley.

Last week, Met said strong southerly to south-easterly winds with speeds exceeding 25 knots are expected over some parts of the Coast, the Northeast, the Northwest and the South-eastern lowlands.

The counties affected were Mombasa, Tana River, Kilifi, Lamu, Kwale, Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, Isiolo, Turkana, West Pokot, Samburu, Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado and Taita Taveta.
