Government extends form one reporting date by a week

BY KORIR JUMA,NAIROBI,7TH  AUG,2021-The reporting exercise of the 2021 form one cohort to their respective schools has been extended by an additional one week.

According to a circular by the Ministry of Education, the exercise which was to commence on Monday, 2nd August 2021 and close on Friday, 6th August 2021 has been extended to ensure all the 2020 KCPE candidates are admitted to form one in the spirit of the 100 per cent transition.

Through the circular, the Ministry noted that whereas a majority of the students have reported to their schools across the country, there are still a number of students that are yet to be enrolled.

“The Ministry had decided to extend the reporting period by one week to enable parents/guardians enrol their children in various secondary schools,” the circular read in part.

The Principal Secretary, Paul Kibet, through the circular in addition instructed school principals to admit all learners reporting, including those who may not have the full school fees.

Kibet further directed that principals engage parents and guardians to make arrangements for fees payment.

A total of 585,942 girls compared to 585,323 boys are joining form one this year.

National schools have admitted 17,406 girls and 18,848 boys summing up to 36,254.

The extra county schools have admitted 95,646 girls and 105,431 boys and the total is 201,077.

On the other hand, county schools have taken 115,325 girls and 98,266 boys and the total is 213,591.

Students who scored 400 marks and above were placed in National and extra county schools of their choice.

Special needs candidates were also placed in regular schools of their preference.
