BY JOAN WANJIKU,NAIROBI,13TH JULY,2021-Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe has announced 761 news cases of Covid-19 in the country.
The new cases are from 5,794 samples tested in the last 24 hours, bringing the total caseload in Kenya to 189,703.
With the news cases, the positivity rate rises to 13.1%.
In the announcement, nine deaths have been reported, all from facility record audits for April and June, 2021.
Total deaths currently stand at 3,732.
Total recoveries increased to 180,624 after 71 patients recovered from the disease, 45 from the Home-based Isolation and Care, while 26 are from various health facilities countrywide.
A total of 1,067 patients are currently admitted in various hospitals, while 4,359 are under the Home-based Isolation and Care program.
Another 123 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 38 of whom are on ventilatory support and 65 on supplemental oxygen, as 20 others are under observation.
Some 218 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 196 of them in general wards and 22 in High Dependency Units (HDU).
The news cases are dstributed in the counties as follows; Nairobi 189, Kisumu 133, Laikipia 104, Uasin Gishu 45, Nakuru and Mombasa 35 cases each, Kiambu 27, Kitui 23, Garissa 20, Kilifi and Busia 18 cases each, and Siaya and Taita Taveta recorded 14 cases each.
Murang’a and Machakos 8 cases each, Isiolo and Vihiga 7 cases each, Kirinyaga, Makueni, Kisii and Kwale 6 cases each, Bungoma, Kericho and Nyamira 5 cases each, Embu, Homa Bay, Kajiado, Kakamega, Narok and Nyandarua 2 cases each.
