BY KORIR JUMA,NAIROBI,6TH JUNE,2021-Kenya on Sunday recorded 166 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, from a sample size of 3, 561, with the positivity rate now at 4.7%.
From these cases, 156 are Kenyans while 10 are foreigners, with 116 being males and 50 being females.
Age wise, the youngest is a four-year-old child while the oldest is 97 years old.
This now brings the total number of positive cases to 172,491, and the cumulative tests so far conducted are 1,834,247.
In terms of recovery, 93 patients have recovered from the disease, with 90 from the home based and isolation care while three are from various health facilities.
The total number of recoveries in the country stands at 117,595, with 85,396 from home based and isolation care while 32,199 are from various health facilities.
On a sad note, the country has lost 23 patients to the disease in the last 24 hours, all of them being late deaths reports arising after conducting facility record audits on diverse dates in the months of April and May.
This now brings the total number of fatalities to 3,287.
A total of 1,177 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 4,904 patients are on home based isolation and care.
105 patients are in ICU, 26 of whom are on ventilatory support and 62 on supplemental oxygen. 17 patients are on observation.
Another 95 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen with 88 of them in general wards and seven are in High Dependency Unit.
As of today, a total of 975,399 people have so far been vaccinated countrywide.
Of these, 295,530 are aged 58 years and above, 166,225 are health workers, 153,096 are teachers, 82,745 are security officers and 277,803 are in the others category.
On the second dose, as of Saturday, a total of 8,181 have received their second dose. Of these 4, 607 are health workers, 1,053 are aged 58 years and above, 606 teachers, 401 security officers while 1,514 fall under others category.
