Kenya records 142 new COVID19 cases as 18 succumb

BY KORIR JUMA,NAIROBI,2ND JUNE,2021-142 people have tested positive for COVID-19, from a sample size of 2,650 tested in the last 24 hours with positivity rate now at 5.4%.

Out of the new cases 131 are Kenyans while 11 are foreigners. 76 are males and 66 females with the youngest is a 14 year-old while the oldest is 83 years.

Total confirmed positive cases are now 171,226 and cumulative tests so far conducted are 1,818,416.

18 people are reported to have succumbed to the disease all of them being late death reports from facility record audits conducted on diverse dates in the month of April and May.

This now pushes the cumulative fatalities to 3,206.

16 patients have recovered from the disease, 9 from various health facilities countrywide while 7 are from the Home Based Care and Isolation program.

New deaths by age; 0-9 years (O), 10-19 years (1), 20-29 (O), 30-39 years (O), 40-49 years (1), 50-59 years (1), 60 years and above (15).

Cumulative deaths by age; 0-9 years (54), 10-19 years (22), 2029 (109), 30-39 years (258), 40-49 years (402), 50-59 years (667), 60 years and above (1,694).

Total recoveries now stand at 117,039 of whom 85,047 are from Home Based Care and Isolation, while 31,992 are from various health facilities.

A total of 1,251 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 4,705 patients are under the Home Based Isolation and Care Program.

92 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 21 of whom are on ventilatory support and 54 on supplemental oxygen and 17 are under observation.

Another 90 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 84 of them in general wards and 6 in High Dependency Units
(HDU).
