BY NAMULONGO PETER,NAIROBI,6TH APRIL,2021-The Covid-19 positivity rate on Thursday dropped to 8.5 per cent from Wednesday’s figure of 11 per cent.
From a sample size of 8,853 tested in the last 24 hours, Kenya on Thursday recorded 705 new Covid-19 cases.
Of the cases, 687 are Kenyans while 18 are foreigners, with 404 being males and 301 being females.
Age wise, the youngest is a one-month-old infant while the oldest is 100 years old.
This now brings the total number of positive cases to 162,098, and the cumulative tests so far conducted are 1,701,385.
In terms of recovery, 711 patients have recovered from the disease, with 412 from home-based care and isolation care while 299 are from various health facilities.
The total number of recoveries in the country stands at 110,480 with 80,186 from home based and isolation care while 30,294 are from various health facilities.
The country lost 25 patients to the disease, with one having occurred in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of fatalities to 2,850.
Fourteen deaths occurred on diverse dates within the last one month, while 10 are late deaths conducted from facility record audits.
A total of 1,086 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 6,381 patients are on home based isolation and care.
One hundred and thirty-one patients are in ICU, 28 of whom are on ventilatory support and 83 on supplemental oxygen. 20 patients are on observation
