22 patients succumb to COVID19 as 192 others are admitted in ICU

BY JOAN WANJIKU,NAIROBI,27TH APRIL,2021-Kenya on Tuesday recorded 511 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the country’s case load to 157,492, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has said.

The CS in a statement confirmed that this was from a sample size of 4,020 recording a positivity rate of 12.7 per cent.

The cumulative tests stand at 1,651,008.

The country’s fatalities have risen to 2,665 after another 22 patients succumbed to the disease on recent diverse dates.

Kagwe said that there are 1,365 patients currently admitted in various hospitals across the country. Another, 6,926 patients are on the home-based care programme.

A total of 192 patients are in ICU, out of which 35 are on ventilatory support.

Also, 184 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen, out of which 169 are in general wards and 15 in the HDU.

In terms of County distribution, Nairobi recorded 107 cases, Mombasa 63, Kericho 36, Kisii 34, Nakuru 29, Kiambu 22, Bomet 20, Kisumu 19, Makueni 18, Nyamira 16, Kitui 16, Turkana 15, Siaya 13, Mandera 11, Embu 10, Kilifi 7, Uasin Gishu 7.

Meanwhile, 467 patients have recovered from the disease out of which 385 were from the Homebased care program while 82 were discharged from various health facilities.
