18 more succumb as Kenya records 366 new COVID19 virus cases

BY JOAN WANJIKU,NAIROBI,18TH APRIL,2021-Kenya on Sunday recorded 366 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the country’s case load to 151,653, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has said.

The CS in a statement confirmed that this was from a sample size of 3,664 recording a positivity rate of 10 per cent.

The cumulative tests stand at 1,603,332.

The country’s fatalities have risen to 2,481 after another 18 patients succumbed to the disease.

Kagwe said that there are 1,620 patients currently admitted in various hospitals across the country. Another, 5,832 patients are on the home-based care programme.

A total of 254 patients are in ICU, out of which 56 are on ventilatory support.

Also, 218 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen, out of which 204 are in general wards and 14 in the HDU.

Meanwhile, 280 patients have recovered from the disease out of which 207 were from the Homebased care program while 73 were discharged from various health facilities.

Kenya’s recoveries now stand at 101,642

From the new cases recorded, Nairobi has 177, Uasin Gishu 24, Kiambu 23, Kilifi 20, Nakuru 19, Kitui 19, Mombasa 12, Machakos 11, Busia 9, Murang’a 8, Kajiado 8, Kericho 6, Homa Bay 6, Isiolo 4, Bungoma 2, Trans Nzoia 2, Elgeyo Marakwet 2, Nyandarua 2, Kisii 2, Meru 1, Migori 1, Nandi 1, Narok 1, Nyamira 1, Nyeri 1, Siaya 1, Vihiga 1, Embu 1 and Kakamega 1.
