14 deaths succumb as Kenya records 394 new virus cases

BY JOAN WANJIKU,NAIROBI,6TH APRIL,2021-Kenya on Tuesday recorded 394 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the country’s case load to 139,842, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has said.

The CS in a statement confirmed that this was from a sample size of 2,923 recording a positivity rate of 13.5 per cent.

The cumulative tests stand at 1,523,313.

The country’s fatalities have risen to 2,258 after another 14 patients succumbed to the disease on diverse dates.

Kagwe said that there are 1,576 patients currently admitted in various hospitals across the country. Another, 6,182  patients are on the home-based care programme.

A total of 205 patients are in ICU, out of which 46 are on ventilatory support.

Also, 257 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen, out of which 242 are in general wards and 15 in the HDU.

Meanwhile, 2,217 patients have recovered from the disease out of which 1,542 were from the Homebased care program while 675 were discharged from various health facilities
