BY JOAN WANJIKU,NAIROBI,3RD APRIL,2021-Kenya on Saturday recorded 1,184 new cases of Covid-19 from a sample size of 7,139 tested in the last 24 hours with the positivity rate at 16,5%.
From these cases, 1,146 are Kenyans while 38 are foreigners, with 601 being males and 583 being females.
Age wise, the youngest is a one-year-old baby while the oldest is 98.
This now brings the total number of positive cases to 138,077 and cumulative tests so far conducted are 1,511,592.
In terms of recoveries, 220 patients have recovered from the disease with 177 from the home based and isolation care while 43 are from various health facilities.
The total number of recoveries in the country now stand at 93,650.
On a sad note, 20 people have succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours, with two of them having occurred in the last 24 hours, 14 occurred in the last one month while four are late death reports from facility audits that occurred on diverse dates.
This now pushes the cumulative fatalities to 2,206.
A total of 1,582 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 5,376 patients are on home based isolation and care.
187 patients are in ICU, 43 of whom are on ventilatory support and 111 on supplemental oxygen, with 33 patients are on observation.
Another 247 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen with 234 of them in the general wards and 13 in the High Dependency Unit.
In terms of county distribution Nairobi has 613, Kiambu 92, Nyeri 59, Kericho 47, Uasin Gishu 38, Machakos 37, Meru 33, Kajiado 28, Nakuru and Nyamira have 26 cases each while Nyandarua and Kilifi have 23 each.
Others are Taita Taveta with 19, Kakamega 17, Laikipia 16, Kirinyaga 12, Bomet and Bungoma with 11 each, Mombasa and Murang’a with eight, Busia and Kitui with five cases each, Vihiga four, Kisumu three, Kwale, Makueni, Mandera and Migori with two cases while Nandi, Garissa, Narok and Isiolo have one case each.
