Royal media’s Radio managing editor Robin Njogu Dies after contracting COVID19

BY NAMULONGO PETER,NAIROBI,16TH MARCH,2021- Radio Citizen Managing Editor Robin Njogu has succumbed to Covid-19.

Njogu died on Monday, March 14, at the Aga Khan Hospital where he was undergoing treatment, just days after his mother passed on.

Deputy president William Ruto  has termed Njogu’s death as big blow to the media fraternity and the country at large. In his message posted on his social media platform ,Ruto said Njogu was a dedicated journalist who saought truth at all times  in  his duties.

As the media fraternity can attest, Robin Njogu was friendly, humble and a good man. He was a skilled, dedicated and professional radio journalist who edited and reported on issues openly, independently and honestly.
Gentle, kind-hearted and steadfast, Njogu believed in the true values of journalism, and contributed immensely to the strengthening of quality reporting.
His death is extremely devastating as it comes just days after he lost his dear mother.
Our love and prayers to the family, their loved ones, the Royal Media Services, the Kenya Editors’ Guild and the entire media fraternity. Rest In Peace. Ruto said.

On his part,ICT, Innovation and Youth Affairs CS Joe Mucheru confirmed Njogu’s demise on his social media platforms, where he also paid his last respects.

“Robin was a consummate journalist and contributed heavily to the development of radio news in the country. Sad loss for his young family, RMS and the media fraternity in the country. May God comfort his family,” he wrote.

Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua mourned the deceased as a personal friend whom he had visited in hospital.

“The other day when I visited him at the hospital he was cheerful and getting better…what a sad night,” Mutua stated.

The renowned journalist has been practicing Journalism for over a decade.

He held a degree in Development Communication from the University of Nairobi and a Diploma in Mass Communication from the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication.
