7 die as Kenya records 1,064 new CIVID19 cases

BY JOAN WANJIKU,NAIROBI,16TH MARCH,2021-Kenya on Tuesday recorded 1,064 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the country’s case load to 115,031, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has said.

The CS in a statement confirmed that this was from a sample size of 6,151 recording a positivity rate of 17.2 per cent.

The cumulative tests stand at 1,379,990.

The country’s fatalities have risen to 1,925 after another seven patients succumbed to the disease.

Kagwe said that there are 709 patients currently admitted in various hospitals across the country. Another, 2,223 patients are on the home-based care programme.

A total of 104 patients are in ICU, out of which 25 are on ventilatory support.

Also, 25 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen, out of which 24 are in general wards and one in the HDU.

Meanwhile, 185 patients have recovered from the disease out of which 149 were from the Homebased care program while 36 were discharged from various health facilities.

Kenya’s recoveries now stand at 88,781.

From the new cases reported on Tuesday, 964 are Kenyans while 100 are foreigners.

In terms of gender, 558 are males while 506 are females and the youngest is a two-year-old child and the oldest is 91.
