Kenya records 731 New COVID19 cases after testing a sample of 4,513

BY NAMULONGO PETER,NAIROBI,15TH MARCH,2021-Kenya on Monday recorded 731 new Covid-19 cases, from a sample size of 4,513 tested in the last 24 hours, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has said.

This now brings the total number of cases to 113,967, with the cumulative tests conducted so far standing a 1,373,839.

Of these cases, 691 are Kenyans while 40 are foreigners with 436 being males and 295 being females

In terms of age, the youngest is a one-year-old baby while the oldest is 84.

The country has recorded 191 recoveries with 166 from the home based and isolation care and 25 from various health facilities.

This now brings the total number of recoveries to 88,596.

On a sad note, five patients have succumbed to the disease, pushing the cumulative fatality to 1,918.

A total of 678 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 2,129 patients are on home based isolation and care.

109 patients are in ICU, 23 of whom are on ventilatory support and 72 on supplemental oxygen. 14 are on observation.

Another 24 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen with all of them in general wards.

In terms of county distribution, Nairobi leads with 541 new cases followed by Tharaka Nithi with 42, Machakos 39, Kiambu 26, Kajido and Mombasa with 18 each and Meru nine.

Nyeri and Makueni have five cases each, Nakuru four, Garissa three, Kilifi, Murang’a, Narok, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia and Uasin Gishu have two cases each, whereas Kisumu, Mandera, Migori, Nyandarua, Kirinyaga, Bomet and Wajir have one case each.
