431 new COVID19 cases recorded as Kenya’s positive cases now hit 113,236

BY JOAN WANJIKU,NAIROBI,14TH MARCH,2021-Kenya on Sunday recorded 431 new Covid-19 cases, from a sample size of 4,627, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has said.

This now bring the total number of positive cases to 113,236, with the cumulative tests now standing at 1,369,326.

From the cases, 414 are Kenyans while 17 are foreigners, with 272 being males and 159 being females.

Age wise, the youngest is a seven-year-old infant while the oldest is 100.

In terms of recoveries, the country has recorded 79 recoveries from the disease, with 50 from the home based and isolation care and 29 are from various health facilities.

This now bring the total number of recoveries to 88,405.

Sadly, five patients have succumbed to the disease pushing the cumulative fatalities to 1,913.

A total of 668 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 2,080 patients are on home based and isolation and care.

114 patients are in ICU, 24 of whom are on ventilatory support and 76 on supplemental oxygen. 14 patients are on observation.

Another 27 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen with 24 of them in the general wards and three in the High Dependency Unit.

Distribution of the cases according to counties is as follows; Nairobi 252, Nandi 83, Machakos 47, Musia 12, Kiambu 11, Kajiado 10, Uasin Gishu seven, Kilifi four, Nyandarua two while Makueni, Murang’a and Nakuru have one case each
