BY JOAN WANJIKU,NAIROBI,25TH FEB,2021-Nandi County Assembly has become the second County to reject the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) Referendum Bill.

This is after 23 Members of the County Assembly voted against the Constitution of Kenya (Amendment) Bill and 13 supported it.

Baringo was the first county to reject the bill on Thursday, February 11, in a session that was marred by physical fights and chaos.

In Baringo, KANU members had supported the passing of the bill while Jubilee members affiliated with Deputy President William Ruto rejected it.

Police lobbed teargas in the debating chamber immediately results of the close count were announced.

So far, 41 Counties have passed the BBI bill. The BBI secretariat has so far expressed their gratitude to counties that have already passed the bill.

“This landslide victory is an indication of the popularity of BBI and is an indicator of the support the BBI Bill will enjoy at the referendum. The ringing endorsement of the BBI witnessed across the counties is an indication that the people of Kenya have spoken emphatically and in one voice.

“We wish to applaud them for listening to our Principals, President, HE Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga and ignoring the lies and propaganda being peddled around the BBI process,” read their statement
