BY JOAN WANJIKU,NAIROBI,24TH FEB,2021– Kenya on Wednesday recorded 280 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the country’s case load to 104,780, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has said.
The CS in a statement confirmed that this was from a sample size of 4,919 recording a positivity rate of 5.6 per cent.
The cumulative tests stand at 1,278,200.
The country’s fatalities have risen to 1,839 after another two patients succumbed to the disease.
Kagwe said that there are 344 patients currently admitted in various hospitals across the country. Another, 1,495 patients are on the home-based care programme.
A total of 55 patients are in ICU, out of which 22 are on ventilatory support.
Also, nine patients are separately on supplementary oxygen in general wards.
Meanwhile, 713 patients have recovered from the disease out of which 676 were from the Homebased care program while 37 were discharged from various health facilities.
Kenya’s recoveries now stand at 86,378.
From the new cases reported on Wednesday, 221 are Kenyans while 59 are foreigners.
In terms of gender, 173 are males while 107 are females and the youngest in a three-year-old child and the oldest is 89.
Nairobi has 185, Nakuru 19, Kiambu 19, Kericho 12, Mombasa 6, Kajiado 6, Murang’a 6, Uasin Gishu 6, Machakos 5, Meru 4, Embu 3, Bungoma 1, Busia 1, Garissa 1, Kirinyaga 1, Kisii 1, Kwale 1, Makueni 1, Nyandarua 1 and Taita Taveta 1.
