Kenya registers 106 new CIVID19 cases as 184 recovers

BY NAMULONGO PETER,NAIROBI,4TH JAN,2021-The Ministry of Health confirmed on Monday that 106 new cases of coronavirus turned positive, totaling the confirmed cases in the country to 96,908.

The new cases were picked from 3,315 samples collected in the last 24 hours, pushing the number of cumulative tests to 1,059,006.

In a statement, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said that 184 people recovered from the virus, where 131 are from the Home-Based Care program and 53 have been discharged from various hospitals.

This brings the total number of recoveries to 79,257.

Also, the CS confirmed that one patient succumbed to the virus, bringing the number of deaths related to Covid-19 to 1,686.

Kagwe said that 617 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities across the country, and 2,964 on Home-Based Care and Isolation.

Twenty-eight patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 13 of whom are on ventilatory support and 12 on supplemental oxygen, and three on observation.

Another 18 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen, all being in general wards.

 

Nairobi leads with 87 cases, Uasin Gishu 5, Kiambu 3, Busia 2, Kajiado 2, and Mombasa 2.

Machakos, Kericho, Makueni, Meru and Kilifi reported single cases each.
