BY KORIR JUMA,NAIROBI,23RD DEC,2020-Malindi Member of Parliament Aisha Jumwa has apologised to all those offended by her alleged reckless remarks during the recently concluded Msambweni by-election campaigns.

The legislator, who appeared before the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) on Tuesday, said she regrets that her remarks were offensive but maintains she was provoked by ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna.

“Nimekubali msamaha wake na wale walikuwa offended na matamshi yangu…Mimi sioni kama yalikuwa yanagusa mtu yeyote, ni maneno ambayo yalikuwa yananigiusa mimi mwenyewe,” she said.

“Sikutaja kabila, sikutaja chama, sikutaja mtu…nilizungumza ukweli wa yale maneno yalivyokuwa yamepangwa because ni information ambayo nilikuwa niko nayo.”

NCIC, while summoning the two leaders, warned that such reckless statements could plunge the country into political intolerance and in turn disrupt peace.

Sifuna on Monday apologised over insulting remarks he made against the Malindi MP saying they were unnecessarily graphic, adding that he did not intend to advocate for sexual violence.
