Kenya records 810 new COVID19 cases as 8 more succumb

BY NAMULONGO PETER,NAIROBI,25TH NOV 2020-Kenya on Wednesday recorded 810 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the country’s case load to 79,322, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has said.

The CS in a statement confirmed that this was from a sample size of 7,387 recording a positivity rate of 10.9 per cent.

The cumulative tests stand at 855,403.

The country’s fatalities have risen to 1,417 after another eight patients succumbed to the disease.

Kagwe said that there are 1,198 patients currently admitted in various hospitals across the country. Another, 7,169 patients are on the home-based care programme.

A total of 31 patients are in ICU, out of which 31 are on ventilatory support.

Also, 106 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen, out of which 91   are in general wards and 15 in the HDU.

Meanwhile, 265  patients have recovered from the disease out of which 210 were from the Homebased care program while 55 were discharged from various health facilities.

Kenya’s recoveries now stand at 52,974.

From the new cases reported, 792 are Kenyans while 18 are foreigners.

In terms of gender, 475 are males while 335 are females and the youngest in a one-year-old child and the oldest is 87.

Nairobi leads with 252, Mombasa 77, Nakuru 38, Uasin Gishu 36, Siaya 34, Nyandarua 31, Kericho 30, Busia 30, Nyamira 29, Kisumu 22 and Kakamega 22.
