BY JOAN WANJIKU,NAIROBI,31ST OCT 2020-15 more people have succumbed to coronavirus in Kenya as the country’s caseload rose to 55,192 on Saturday.
A statement from Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said 1,395 more people had tested positive in the last 24 hours while the total number of fatalities now stands at 996.
“From the cases, 1,337 are Kenyans and 58 are foreigners. In terms of gender 879 are males and 516 females. The youngest is a four-month old infant, while the oldest is 94,” the statement reads.
According to the Health CS, the latest cases are from a sample size of 7,635 tested with the country’s cumulative tests now at 695,087.

- Embu, Baringo, Nyamira and Wajir 2 each
- Migori, Nyandarua, Trans Nzoia, Narok and Kirinyaga 1 each
CS Kagwe also noted that there are 1,241 patients admitted to various health facilities countrywide while 4,495 are in home-based care.
“55 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 32 of whom are on ventilatory support and 23 on supplementary oxygen. 45 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen but not in the ICU, while 11 are in the High Dependency Unit (HDU),” the CS said.
